Position : Assistance for Project at Embassy of Japan in Thailand, Economic Section
Work location : Bangkok – MRT Lumpini
Salary : Salary range will be explained at the interview day
The Economic Section of the Embassy of Japan in Thailand is implementing the “Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects” (hereinafter referred to as Grassroots Grant) which directly benefits Thai residents. We are recruiting one Thai national to assist with this implementation as a Grassroots External Contractor under the following terms.
1. What is the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (Grassroots Grant)?
Grassroots Grant is an international cooperation initiative by the Government of Japan, where overseas diplomatic missions provide financial cooperation mainly for relatively small-scale projects (principally under 10 million yen) carried out by local public entities, educational and medical institutions, and international and local NGOs active in developing countries. The Grassroots External Contractor will assist in forming, implementing, and following up on specific aid projects at the development aid site. The Grassroots Grant provides various supports tailored to the local needs in Thailand. For details, please refer to the Embassy of Japan in Thailand’s website.
2. Job Description
1) Preliminary research and preparation of project assessment materials: Conduct preliminary research necessary to understand the current situation, challenges, implementation issues of the target area, and the applicant organization’s capability to execute the project for applications received, and prepare materials for project assessment.
2) Monitoring and follow-up of implemented projects: For ongoing or completed projects, maintain communication with the implementing organizations to monitor and follow up on the project implementation status to ensure proper project management.
3) Assistance in organizing signing and handover ceremonies: Coordinate with relevant parties to arrange the signing ceremony for the grant agreement and the handover ceremony after the project completion. Preparation of various reports: Liaise with various organizations through letters, emails, phone calls, and meetings; travel to local areas for the aforementioned tasks (1)-(3), and prepare reports, monitoring reports, and monthly reports.
4) Other tasks related to project.
3. Application Qualifications
・Be a Thai national and in good mental and physical health.
・Possess high proficiency in Japanese writing and conversation.
・Have conversational ability in English.
・Basic PC skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
4. Compensation and Contract Terms
Remuneration: According to the regulations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ external contractor system.
Contract Period: From October 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025 (with the possibility of continuous renewal for a maximum of three years from the start of the contract).
Note: The Grassroots External Contractor is not employed as an embassy staff member but engages in a service contract related to Grassroots Grant tasks. The embassy will pay a fixed monthly remuneration based on this contract. Since this is a service contract and not an employment contract, various benefits under normal employment contracts do not apply.
5. Application Procedure

1) Japanese resume: Include a photo, name, date of birth, address, email/phone contact, educational background, work history, and qualifications (such as the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, TOEIC, etc.).
2) Self-introduction, reason for applying, Japanese language ability, and opinions on international cooperation: (Language: Japanese, Free format, one A4 page).

After document screening, interview dates will be communicated to successful candidates. Note that the interview will be conducted in Japanese.
