Personnel Consultant , we conducted a survey on human resource management, such as salary structure, benefits, welfare and other aspects, of Japanese companies in Thailand. For this survey, we received cooperation from 1,047 registered client companies, both in the manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors.
The salary survey rates of employee working with Japanese companies in Thailand can be summarized as follows:
There are 7 job categories, divided by position, including positions held by Japanese nationals who have been hired in Thailand. For Thai employees with proficiency in the Japanese language, their salaries will be discussed based on the market price, taking into account differences in proficiency levels.
The average salary rate of Thai employees remains relatively unchanged compared to the previous year. However, there is an observable increase of 6,000 Baht in the minimum salary rate for Thai employees who are newly graduated and possess Japanese language skills. This indicates an increased demand for employees proficient in the Japanese language, following the end of the COVID-19 pandemic and the expansion of Japanese companies in Thailand.
Regarding the hiring of Japanese employees locally, the maximum salary rate has increased by up to 15,000 Baht across various positions, from newly graduated individuals to managerial / assistant positions. This data also indicates a shortage of Japanese employees in the local area.
In the overall labor market in Thailand, which includes both foreign and Japanese companies, there is a trend of employees changing jobs to seek higher wages or other benefits. While Thai and European/American companies anticipate short-term employment from their personnel, Japanese companies are eager for long-term commitment. To foster employee retention, Japanese companies prioritize improving the working environment and offering opportunities for skill development and career advancement.
An interesting observation is that the minimum salary for new graduates and employees with Japanese language skills has increased by 6,000 baht. This shows an increased demand for Japanese language skilled personnel following the end of the coronavirus pandemic and the recovery and expansion of Japanese companies in Thailand.
In addition to income and salary statistics, this report also includes surveys on various benefits provided by Japanese companies in Thailand, as well as addressing concerns and worries regarding employee recruitment, hiring, resignation rates, and employee development/training. Recommendations to mitigate these issues and concerns include:
– Creating a positive work environment.
– Reviewing salaries, benefits, and other perks.
– Developing and establishing personnel and training systems.
– Implementing flexible working arrangements, such as Work From Home (WFH) or a Hybrid model etc.
